The Wedding
Here are some important information regarding the wedding.
When
The Wedding is happening on the 23rd of July, 2022, at 15:00, Warsaw Time, The ceremony will last around 45 minutes.
Where
The event will be in two parts and done in different places:
The ceremony will commence at Polana Opaleń, located within the Kampinos National Park, which is right next to Warsaw.
After the ceremony, we will head towards another location where the dinner will be served. The location is 5.3 Kilometers away from Polana Opaleń, and you should be able to find the address on:
- the invitation we’ve sent you, or
- on the Wedding WhatsApp group, if you’ve opted to join earlier
Please contact us if you can’t find this information.
What to wear
Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable for the ceremony! Just remember that it will be in grassy nature so be mindful about your shoe choice.
It can also be cooler at night, so bring a layer just in case.
Language
The wedding ceremony will be conducted in both English and Polish.
Before the Trip
Here are some useful information and things to consider before making the trip to Poland.
Weather
Temperature in Warsaw in July is pretty moderate, the highest is around 24°C, and the lowest around 13°C on average.
July is the month with most rainfall though so remember to bring your rain jacket.
Exchanging Money
The currency of Poland is Polish Złoty (PLN), (pronounced as zuo•tuh). You should be able to easily exchange your Euro, USD, and HKD into PLN in one of the money exchange shops (Kantor) in Poland.
Booking Things
With the invasion happening in Ukraine, it is possible that we’ll need to postpone the wedding ceremony to make sure of everyone’s safety.
With that said, we suggest you check the cancellation/refund policy before booking anything.
Accommodation
Central Warsaw
Both wedding locations are not very far away from central Warsaw, the distance between the Palace of Culture and Science, and Polana Opaleń, is around 14.6 kilometers by car, and an hour away by public transportations. So if you would like to explore Warsaw a bit more, central Warsaw sounds like a great option.
Price-wise, accommodations at Warsaw can go as affordable as PLN 180 (EUR €39, USD $40) to as luxurious as PLN 860 (EUR €184, USD $191) per night.
Here are some areas we recommend you to check out:
- Warszawa Centrum (Warsaw Central Metro Station) — Located on the west bank of the Vistula river (known locally as Wisła), this is where most hotels are located at.
- Praga district - Located on the other side of the Vistula river, Praga is the most authentic part of Warsaw as it wasn’t destroyed during the war. It has a soulful vibe compared to the metropolitan feel of Central Warsaw. Should be easy to find some good Airbnbs here.
On the Wedding Day
You’re definitely welcome to pitch a tent, crash on the couch / floor at the party venue and stay as long as you want; just make sure you let us know before hand!
But if you prefer comfort, it might be a good idea to have a place booked closer to the venues.
- Klaudyn — This area is not far from the wedding venue. A place we’ve found is Apartamenty w Klaudynie, which is only 4KM away from the party venue. Price is also pretty affordable.
- Łomianki - Another nearby area to consider with plenty of accommodation options. One example is Villa Casanna Apartments.
Transportation
The transportation network in Warsaw consists of trains, buses, two metro lines, and trams. It covers most places in Warsaw, so travelling is pretty easy. However, there are two things that makes it slightly more complicated.
Zones (Strefa)
The Warsaw Transport Authority has divided the serviced area into two zones as illustrated in this map.
To put it simply, Zone 1 covers the centre of Warsaw, and Zone 2 covers the outskirt.
Make sure you know which zone your destination is located in before buying the ticket.
Tickets (Bilet)
And unlike most tickets we’re used to, Warsaw transport tickets are time-based as opposed to trip-based. This means you will need to know how long it takes to travel from point A to point B to buy the right ticket; This can be quite stressful if you’re not used to it.
Luckily, there are these tickets with longer validity, so you can make your decision based on just how many days and which zone will you travel to. We strongly suggest you to go for these.
- 3-day ticket (72h) for Zone 1 — PLN 36 (EUR €6.41, USD $6.67)
- 3-day ticket (72h) for Zone 1+2 — PLN 57 (EUR €12.18, USD $12.62)
- 1-day ticket (24h) for Zone 1 — PLN 15 (EUR €3.20, USD $3.33)
- 1-day ticket (24h) for Zone 1+2 — PLN 26 (EUR €5.55, USD $5.78)
There’s an App for Everything
We suggest you to use Moovit for getting around Warsaw, all the transport lines and routes are pretty well documented on it.
Arriving in Warsaw
It’ll be easy to go anywhere you need once you get to the center of Warsaw. Here’s the guide to get you there.
From Chopin Airport (WAW)
The S2 line will take you straight to central Warsaw. Get off at Warszawa Śródmieście if you’re going to the west bank of the Vistula river, or Warszawa Wschodnia if your’re going to the east bank.
You can use the tickets mentioned earlier for this trip.
From Modlin Airport (WMI)
You’ll need to take airport bus that takes you to the RL line train station. Get of at Warszawa Centralna if you’re going to the west bank of the Vistula river, or Warszawa Wschodnia if your’re going to the east bank.
Beware though that you will not be allowed to use the ticket mentioned earlier for this trip, so you’ll need to buy the Airport Ticket which includes the airport bus fee and the train fee.
From Warszawa Centralna Train Station
You’re right in the middle of Warsaw already! If you need to go to the east bank of Vistula river, take a bus or go to the Centrum metro station and take the M2 metro towards Trocka.
